Choosing an MD/MS college after NEET PG involves more than checking a college name. This guide explains the MD/MS Colleges in Bihar, available branches, latest verifiable fee references, seat information, counselling routes, NEET PG seat allotment, and the key checks students should complete before admission.
MD/MS admission in Bihar is based on NEET PG qualification followed by the applicable counselling process. Bihar private medical college state-quota seats are handled through the appropriate state admission authority, while MCC conducts counselling for applicable All India Quota and other MCC-covered seats. Fees and seats should always be checked against the latest official notice.
Which MD/MS Colleges Are Available in Bihar?
Bihar has both government and private medical colleges offering postgraduate medical education. The exact MD/MS branches and seats can change after NMC permissions, seat increases, withdrawals, or counselling updates.
Government medical colleges may have seats participating in the All India Quota as well as state-level counselling. For private medical colleges, students must pay particular attention to the state admission authority and the category or quota attached to a seat.
For Bihar’s private medical college state-quota seats, the 2026 MCC counselling bulletin specifically directs candidates to the appropriate State Government or admission authority rather than MCC. Bihar’s PGMAC is conducted by the Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board (BCECEB).
What Types of MD/MS Colleges Are Available?
Students can broadly consider:
- Government medical colleges
- Private medical colleges
- Colleges participating in state counselling
- Seats covered by MCC counselling where applicable
The counselling route should be confirmed from the current seat matrix and prospectus before choice filling.

- General Medicine
- Paediatrics
- Anaesthesiology
- Dermatology, Venereology & Leprosy
- Radiodiagnosis

Which MS Specialities Are Available?

How Should Students Choose Between MD/MS Specialities?
Consider five factors first:
- Interest: Choose a specialty whose clinical work genuinely fits your interests.
- NEET PG rank: Your rank affects the realistic range of choices.
- Career plan: Consider your intended practice, academics or further specialization.
- Budget: Compare the complete three-year financial commitment.
- Seat availability: A preferred branch matters only if an eligible seat is available through the relevant counselling route.
How Does MD/MS Admission Work in Bihar After NEET PG?
NEET PG is the national entrance examination used for admission to MD/MS and other postgraduate medical courses. NBEMS conducts NEET PG, while counselling is handled by the relevant counselling authority.
As of October 2026, NBEMS has declared the NEET PG 2026 result, while MCC has published the 2026 PG counselling schedule for its covered seats.
Which Counselling Is Required for MD/MS Admission in Bihar?
There are two important routes to understand.
Bihar PGMAC: BCECEB conducts Post Graduate Medical Admission Counselling for applicable Bihar seats, including private medical college state-quota seats.
MCC NEET PG Counselling: MCC handles the 50% All India Quota PG seats contributed by states, along with deemed universities, central universities/institutes and other MCC-covered seats.
A student should not assume that every Bihar private college seat is available through MCC. The 2026 MCC bulletin specifically states that state-quota private medical college seats are handled by the appropriate state admission authority.
What Is the Step-by-Step MD/MS Admission Process?
Step 1: NEET PG qualification
Obtain a qualifying NEET PG result and meet the applicable eligibility requirements.
Step 2: Counselling registration
Register with MCC or BCECEB, depending on the seat and counselling route.
Step 3: Choice filling
Select colleges and specialties in your actual order of preference.
Step 4: Seat allotment
The counselling authority processes choices against the applicable merit, category, quota and available seats.
Step 5: Admission formalities
Complete the required payment and document procedures.
Step 6: Reporting
Follow the reporting instructions and deadline for the allotted institution.

What Should Students Do After Seat Allotment?
After receiving an MCC seat:

- Check the reporting deadline.
- Review the allotted course and college.
- Upload documents when required.
- Complete fee formalities.
- Report with original documents where required.
- Follow the applicable Freeze or Float process.
The current MCC counselling scheme requires document handling and reporting steps within prescribed timelines. A discrepancy in uploaded or physical documents can affect admission.
What Happens After NEET PG Seat Allotment?
Seat allotment is not the final step. The candidate must complete the admission process according to the rules of the relevant counselling round.
What Factors Decide NEET PG Seat Allotment?
Seat allotment can depend on:
- NEET PG rank
- Category
- Choice preference
- Available seats
- Applicable quota
- Counselling rules
- Eligibility for the selected seat
MCC’s 2026 bulletin states that candidates can provide choices in order of preference and that allotment is made based on the submitted preference order and applicable rules.
Can Students Get a Different College or Branch in the Next Round?
An upgrade may be possible when the counselling scheme permits it and a preferred seat becomes available.
However, an upgrade should never be treated as guaranteed. Candidates must follow the round-specific rules for willingness, reporting, resignation and forfeiture.

A basic document file should include:
- NEET PG admit card
- NEET PG result/rank letter
- MBBS mark sheets
- MBBS degree or provisional certificate
- Internship completion certificate
- Permanent or provisional medical registration certificate
- Date-of-birth proof
- Valid ID proof
- Passport-size photographs
