What Are the NEET Qualifying Marks for AYUSH Counselling? 2026 Guide

If you are planning to pursue BAMS, BHMS, BUMS or BSMS after NEET UG, one of the first questions that comes to mind is: What are the NEET qualifying marks for AYUSH counselling? For students planning BAMS Admission in India, understanding the NEET qualifying criteria is important before starting the counselling process. For 2026, NTA has already released the NEET UG result and qualifying cutoff. NEET 2026 scorecards were published on 16 July 2026. It is important to understand that qualifying NEET and getting an AYUSH seat are two different things. A candidate may qualify NEET but still need a higher score or rank to secure BAMS or another AYUSH seat in a preferred college. NEET 2026 Qualifying Marks for AYUSH Courses The NEET qualifying marks for AYUSH counselling are based on the qualifying percentile prescribed for NEET UG. The 2026 category-wise qualifying criteria are:

These are the qualifying marks, not guaranteed admission scores. Candidates who qualify NEET can become eligible for the relevant counselling process, subject to the applicable AYUSH admission rules. What is the NEET 2026 Cut-Off Score for AYUSH Courses? The NEET 2026 cutoff for AYUSH courses should be understood in two ways: qualifying cutoff and admission cutoff. The qualifying cutoff is the minimum score required to qualify NEET. For General/EWS candidates, the 50th percentile corresponds to 213 marks as the lower end of the 2026 qualifying range. For OBC, SC and ST candidates, the 40th percentile corresponds to 177 marks as the lower end. However, this does not mean that scoring 213 marks will automatically get you BAMS admission. Actual admission depends on factors such as:

• College and course preference
• Category
• State quota or All India Quota
• Government or private college
• Number of available seats
• Candidate rank
• Counselling round
• Choice filling
• Previous round closing trends

Therefore, when checking the NEET qualifying marks for AYUSH counselling, students should not confuse the minimum qualifying score with the score required to actually secure a seat. How Does AYUSH Counselling Work After NEET? Candidates who qualify NEET can participate in the applicable AYUSH counselling process. For All India Quota seats, AACCC conducts counselling for BAMS, BSMS, BUMS, BHMS and certain other AYUSH UG seats. Also After qualifying NEET, candidates need to participate in the applicable NEET UG Counselling process and complete registration, choice filling, choice locking and seat allotment as per the counselling schedule. AACCC states that its UG counselling covers AIQ seats in government and government-aided institutions, as well as applicable seats in Central Universities, National Institutes and Deemed Universities. Private AYUSH institutes are generally handled through the respective State/UT counselling authorities. The general process includes:

1. NEET qualification
2. AYUSH counselling registration
3. Payment of counselling fees
4. Choice filling
5. Choice locking
6. Seat allotment
7. Reporting to the allotted college
8. Document verification and admission formalities

So, meeting the NEET qualifying marks for AYUSH counselling is only the first step toward admission. What is the Lowest NEET Score Accepted for BAMS? There is no single fixed "lowest score" at which every candidate will get BAMS admission. The minimum score needed for actual admission changes according to college, category, counselling round, state and seat availability. For example, a candidate scoring just above the qualifying cutoff may be eligible to participate in counselling but may have limited options in government BAMS colleges. Private BAMS colleges and later counselling rounds may provide different opportunities, depending on the available seats and applicable rules. Therefore, if your score is close to the qualifying cutoff, you should participate in counselling rather than assuming that admission is impossible. Can I Get Ayurvedic with 200 Marks in NEET? Yes, 200 marks in NEET can make AYUSH options worth exploring, but your possibilities will depend heavily on your category and counselling rules. For NEET 2026, 200 marks is below the UR/EWS qualifying threshold of 213, so a General/EWS candidate scoring exactly 200 would not meet the announced qualifying cutoff. For OBC, SC and ST candidates, the 2026 qualifying range extends down to 177 marks, so 200 marks can satisfy the qualifying requirement for those categories. But qualifying with 200 marks does not guarantee a BAMS seat. You would still need to check the relevant state/AACCC counselling, participating colleges, available seats and category-specific opportunities. This is why students should evaluate their score against the NEET qualifying marks for AYUSH counselling as well as the actual admission trends. How Many Marks Are Required in NEET for BAMS in 2026? Students targeting Top BAMS Colleges in India should remember that qualifying NEET alone is not enough. College preference, category, NEET rank, counselling round and seat availability can significantly influence the final admission chances. The required marks for BAMS in 2026 depend on the type of college you are targeting. A broad way to look at your options is:

Can qualify for eligible reserved categories, subject to rules 213–250 General/EWS qualification is possible, but BAMS options may be limited 250–350 More AYUSH options may become available depending on category and college 350–450+

Better scope for exploring BAMS colleges 450+

Generally more competitive for a wider range of options The NEET qualifying marks for AYUSH counselling should therefore be treated as the eligibility benchmark, while college-specific closing ranks/scores should be used to estimate admission chances. Government vs Private BAMS: Does the Required Score Differ? Yes. The competition can be very different between government and private BAMS colleges. Government BAMS Colleges Government BAMS seats are generally more competitive because the number of seats is limited and fees are comparatively lower. Candidates usually need a stronger NEET rank to improve their chances. Private BAMS Colleges Private colleges may offer more opportunities across different score ranges, depending on the state, category, counselling round and vacant seats. However, candidates should always verify the current fee structure and admission rules before making a decision. So, while the NEET qualifying marks for AYUSH counselling establish basic eligibility, the actual score required for BAMS admission can be considerably higher. What Factors Affect BAMS Admission in 2026? Your chances of getting BAMS admission depend on several factors:

• NEET score and All India Rank
• Category and applicable reservation
• State domicile
• Government/private/deemed college
• AYUSH seat matrix
• Choice filling strategy
• Counselling round
• Number of candidates competing for seats
• Availability of seats
• College preference

This is why two students with similar NEET scores may have different admission outcomes. NEET Qualifying Marks vs BAMS Admission Cutoff This distinction is extremely important. NEET qualifying marks are the minimum marks required to qualify for the examination and become eligible for applicable counselling. BAMS admission cutoff refers to the score/rank at which seats are actually allotted in a particular college, category and counselling round. For example, a student may qualify NEET with 213 marks under UR/EWS in 2026, but that does not mean the student will automatically receive a BAMS seat. The actual seat allotment depends on the available choices and closing rank of the counselling round. Therefore, don't judge your BAMS admission chances only by looking at the NEET qualifying marks for AYUSH counselling. What Should Students Do After the NEET 2026 Result? If you have qualified NEET and want to pursue Ayurveda, don't wait for the counselling process to progress before planning your choices. You should:

1. Check your NEET score and rank.
2. Confirm your category and eligibility.

AACCC has published the 2026–27 UG counselling schedule and information bulletin for eligible AYUSH aspirants. Why Choice Filling Matters in AYUSH Counselling Getting a good NEET score is important, but your counselling strategy also matters. Candidates should avoid filling only a few highly competitive colleges. A better strategy is to create a balanced preference list containing:

• Dream colleges
• Realistic colleges
• Safer options
• Government colleges where eligible
• Private colleges within your budget
• Colleges available under applicable counselling

Your final choices should always be based on the latest official seat matrix and counselling rules. Final Verdict The NEET qualifying marks for AYUSH counselling in 2026 are 213 marks for UR/EWS candidates and 177 marks for OBC, SC and ST candidates, based on the announced qualifying criteria. However, qualifying NEET does not guarantee a BAMS seat. Your actual admission chances depend on your NEET rank, category, counselling round, college preference and seat availability. If you are confused about BAMS admission, AYUSH counselling, college selection or choice filling, AR Group of Education can help students understand the admission process and explore suitable options based on their NEET score and eligibility. Aspirants should always verify the latest counselling notifications, seat matrix and admission rules before making a final decision.
